On June 18, 2010, Maureen was awarded The Woman of Distinction award in Education and Training through the YWCA of Greater Moncton. She inspires a passion for life-long learning in those around her. She contributes through practice, research or administration in a learning environment, including the education system, employee training and development, community education or alternative programs. She has motivated learners to discover knowledge, set goals or seek opportunities.
Today, Maureen works full time in her company Moncton Reality Therapy Consultants and continues to follow her passion of helping others get more of what they want in their lives. She is passionate about the work of Dr. William Glasser and Choice Theory®, an explanation of human behavior and continually offers training programs in the ideas.
As an Emotional Fitness Coach, Maureen also uses a process to help you become more aware of what might be getting in the way of you moving forward with your important goals. With this you receive a workbook to keep as a reminder of skills obtained. Experiences
Maureen started her career in hospital nursing working in various areas including medicine and surgery, maternity, labour and delivery, and the operating room. She became the first Sexual Health Nurse hired in the province of New Brunswick using her strengths of strategist and innovationist to grow the Sexual Health Program.
She served on several committees including, the Minister’s Working Group on Violence Against Women and the Human Growth and Development Curriculum writing committee for the Department of Education. She wrote a booklet entitled Choosing A Quality Loving Relationship for use by parents, teachers, counsellors and anyone working with youth, learning about relationships.
In 1990 Maureen started her own company, on a part time basis, offering professional counselling to adults as well as training and development programs. She received her Masters in Education in Counselling and Human Development from the University of New Brunswick and became a Certified Canadian Counsellor with The Canadian Counselling Association.
She also advanced through the training programs with The William Glasser Institute and became an approved Senior Faculty Instructor. She is a strong believer in the value of relationship in our lives. She is the immediate past president of The William Glasser Institute of Canada and the immediate past chair of the Advisory Board to The William Glasser Institute, LA.
Maureen became instrumental in helping to establish the Healthy Learner Program, a partnership between the Department of Health and Education for School District 2 in Moncton. Just prior to branching off into her own company full time in 2004, Maureen worked in project management in Central Office with the Department of Health and Wellness.
in recent years Maureen has added coaching to her skills portfolio. With a life-time of working with people Maureen realizes that everyone is the expert in their own lives and /or business. She is the expert in asking just the right questions to move you forward faster with your most important goals. As we move into the “Relationship Era” in Business, her skills are a crucial element to the work environment. Maureen has trained at the Master’s level with the College of Executive Coaching and has a keen interest in being a “thought partner” for anyone wanting to advance their personal and/or professional and business lives.
She has been a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club for the last twenty years and is a past provincial president and nominee nationally for Outstanding Woman of the Year (2003). Currently,she is the Chair of the International Mentoring Task Force for the Business and Professional Women International.
In 2009 Maureen was nominate for the Muriel Fergusson McQueen Award through the Chamber of Commerce in Moncton, NB and in 2010 she was nominated for the Phenomenal Woman Award with the CBDC's of the Province.
